Traditional Japanese design concept
A sushi place design that blends traditional Japanese aesthetics with modern minimalism, creating a serene and inviting atmosphere: that is what Yoka Build’s design team created when they were given a task to design a sushi restaurant at Bekasi in June 2023.
With Kanso (簡素) as the design principle, the sushi place’s design features a soothing color palette, organic textures like wood and rice paper, soft lighting and lush greenery. The result is a peaceful retreat that embodies the essence of traditional Japanese design, expertly balanced to bring calmness and tranquility.
The building that is used for the design is a 300 square meters old house that has many columns, rooms and various wall thickness, therefore the process of transforming the old house into a traditional Japanese sushi place with neutral color palette and natural material was a challenge for the design team because it requires an excellent sense of design. The design project was completed in August 2023.
